My ‘work’ assignment was to pay more attention to what God does than what I do, and to find, and guide others to find, the daily, weekly, yearly rhythms that would get this awareness into our bones. Holy Saturday for a start. And then Sabbath keeping. Staying in touch with people in despair, knowing them by name, and waiting for resurrection.
Eugene Peterson, The Pastor
What joy I am finding in reading this recently-published memoir by such a great pastor and scholar! It is all so beautifully written and yet so arresting at times in its wisdom.
When I am his age, I want to be writing, reflecting and thinking with such wisdom and beauty on a life of walking with God. That would be a life well-lived, I think!
