Review: Life in Spite of Me

Life in Spite of Me by Kristen Jane Anderson with Tricia Goyer is a tear-jerker.

I read it in an afternoon: it’s an easy read and very engaging.  The story of a young woman whose troubled teenage years are the precursor to a dramatic suicide attempt in which she loses her legs, this book is very well-written.  It traces the journey which Kristen makes as she navigates a slow period of physical recovery from her suicide attempt and ongoing battles with depression, alongside the challenges of adapting to life without legs.

Life in Spite of Me is, despite the heavy subject matter however, a story of hope found in Christ, the restoration of a life and even the birth of a new ministry.  Worth a read!

I received a galley copy of this ebook for free from Waterbrook Multnomah in return for an unbiased review.
